Improve Your Putting With Indoor Golf Practice

By: Trent

Are you a frustrated putter? Is your putting killing your golf score? If so, youve got to find every opportunity you can to practice your putting, and why not indoors with a training aid?

Golf Putting Aids Can Help

Youve seen them...indoor putting aids! There are a ton of them! Some are good and some are worthless. But anything is better than nothing. Just getting a putter in your hands and making some putting strokes is going to help. Practice makes perfect!

The great thing about golf putting aids is you can try them out at your local golf store. Many of them are set up for you to try at your convenience. This will give you a firsthand feel for which ones you think will help your putting woes.

Putt In Your Office

Im dead serious! Bring a spare putter to your work and do it whenever you can. Shut your doorgrab your putterand give it a go! A simple putting drill is to lay a glass on its side and putt your ball into the opening of the glass. Youve probably seen this drill before, but have you ever done it? It works!

You can also putt to a spot thats maybe 8-10 feet away if you dont want to do the glass drill above. If you have any kind of thick carpet, the ball is not going to roll as well, but againits better than nothing.

On Your Garage Floor

You want to mimic the greens at the Masters? Put on your garage floor! Talk about fast. Now I wouldnt do this too much as it will really throw off your feel for speed on real greens, but its kind of fun once in a while.

Practice, Practice, Practice

The ONLY way to improve your putting is through practice. As I mentioned before, One very effective way is to get an indoor golf putting mat. They come in a variety of prices and styles, but youre sure to find one that you like. They can be fun to use on those miserable winter days.

AnyhowI hope you take my advice and get that putter in your hand as often as you can! The next time you hit the course, youll shave several strokes off your score.

Tips On Golf training Aids

To develop a simple, comfortable and effective grip. Your grip is the foundation of your golf swing. Make sure your grip is comfortable. It is important to develop a neutral grip that requires no compensations during the swing. The orthodox position with the V.s of both hands (formed by the forefinger and the thumb) pointing between the chin and right shoulder is a good place to start. Very few good players have grips with the V.s pointing very far from this position. If you want a little stronger grip move the left hand over to the right a little.

Through The Navel. An extension of the shaft at address should point at your navel. This ensures that the body is bent over the proper amount and is far enough from the ball.
Golf collectors can find Center Shafted Putters

Most feel the club has to square at impact but feel they should manipulate the hands to achieve a square clubface for as long as possible thru the hitting zone. In reality the clubface is only square to the target line for a split second and in reality they are open to the target line till the last second then close to the target line immediately after impact. This movement causes the hand to RELEASE thru the impact zone. Great news you dont have to do anything to make this movement happen except keep your centre still and maintain your flex angle.
Improve your golf swing with a great golf swing trainer!

To learn how variations of the grip affect ball flight. Experiment with slight variations of your grip. Observe how the changes affect the flight of the ball. A weak grip encourages a slice or fade. A strong grip encourages a hook or a draw. The V.s formed by the index finger and thumbs on both hands should point between the chin and right shoulder.

Instantly slash your golf score by creating perfect impact!

Golf Etiquette

By: Jeff Austin

The rulebook has a lot in it that you should know, but you dont have to memorize it, keep a copy in your golf bag and your will always be ready.

The way you should act on a golf course however, are things that you must know and observe.

Golf is special because of the many customs including good sportsmanship that go with the game.

Here are some of the most important ones you need to observe while on the green:

*Dont stand where a person putting can see you or your shadow

*No noise making, no opening and closing your Velcro glove or jingle the change in your pocket, and NEVER accidentally cough during someones shot.

*Dont applaud a miss even if it means you or your team now have an advantage, this is extremely rude.

*Always mark you ball, use a ball mark (given away in pro shops) a coin or rock are also acceptable, anything that doesnt move. Put it behind the ball on the extension of your target line.

Ask a player whose line is on your mark if he would like it moved and which way.

Put the heel of your putter next to the mark and place the mark just outside the toe. When the player is finished, move your mark back, if you forget it is a penalty.

*Watch where you walk on the green, know where the balls are and dont walk on their line or it extension on the far side of the hole.

*Walk well around the hole unless you are tapping a ball in or picking it up out of the cup.

*Dont drag your feet on the green, it damages the grass and causes spike marks that cant be repaired until you have finished putting.

*It is against the rules to give advice, except to your partner, so be careful what you say after you have holed out.

*Dont be a slowpoke, you dont have to rush but shouldnt take to long either.

I have a drill that may work for you when practicing your putting stroke called the Tap stroke. To learn this stroke pretend there is a tack stuck in the back of the ball and when you make your stroke have the putter head drive the tack further into the ball. This will encourage you to hit the ball with more authority which with this shorter stroke there will be less chance of the putter blade getting out of what is called square position. So start getting "Tacky" on the greens!

Check out Jean Littler's golf book for yourself and learn how to swing a golf club the right way!

By Lee MacRae

How To Swing A Golf Club - Mission impossible?

With swinging a golf club so vital to playing a great game of golf, just about everyone eventually looks for information or lessons on how to swing a golf club. For many it becomes a quest like the Holy Grail, finding the perfect golf swing.

And for some people, learning how to swing a golf club and swinging it well becomes a very simple task. For others it becomes a very difficult task, finding it difficult to understand how you can keep your arms "straight" and still feel natural, swinging a golf club and driving the ball any distance at all. Anything sound familiar here?

Eventually, every golfer begins to understand that there are various components to the golf swing. We have the backswing, the downswing, the shot impact and finally the follow-through. Some people can piece these together very smoothly, while others struggle with each and every bit, struggling to fit them all together. And then there is the added problem of the pre-shot routine. How often have you stood around while your golf partners become human rain delays? They have so many varied ways of approaching a shot that you're sure they're trying to invoke a black magic spell on the ball! Take a look at the PGA golf professionals. Take a look at their pre-shot routines. Brief. And consistent. Once they step up to take the shot, there is very little dalliance before the ball is headed down the fairway. That is the example to follow.

And whether you are just taking up golf, or been playing for some time, you should be aware that you have a tremendous tool to improve your golf swing in your golf game. I'm talking about the videos we can all watch today of golf professionals and how they play. And amazingly we also have on demand videos on the Internet that are absolutely free of great golfers like Tiger Woods, Vijay Singh or John Daly or past greats like Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Sam Snead, Walter Hagan or Gene Sarazen. Imagine being able to sit and watch how golfers, credited with having great golf swings, perform the task. Talk about a golden opportunity to learn.

But keep in mind that these videos still needs to be used in conjunction with golf lessons. A few good golf lessons with a local pro and then a watching how the PGA professionals put it into effect, can do wonders to advance your game. But what about if you can't afford golf lessons? Well, there are a number of good books on the market that you can read and then watch how the pros apply it. One of the best e-books I've ever seen is one put out by Golf Hall of Fame legend Gene Littler. Littler had a fluid swing I could only dream about. If you don't believe me, you can find videos of this golf legend and see his amazing fluid golf swing for yourself. many have called his swing the best, or at the very least the second-best, golf swing of all-time.

Whatever you decide, use the advantages of video technology along with golf lessons or golf books to learn how to swing a golf club properly. Not spending time to get the fundamental down properly will impede your progress and make the game less enjoyable. Spend a few dollars targeted to the right knowledge and watch your golf scores drop instead!

Hints About Hybrid Golf Clubs

I cant tell you how many people come to my lesson tee and say, If I could just get rid of my baseball swing, then all my problems would be solved! My initial thought is always: I wish you had a baseball swing, because it would help you play better golf.

Control Your Distance-A proper divot is taken just beyond impact, but it should be shallow. Shallow divots allow you to hit your clubs consistent distances, while deep ones dont.

Keep Your Hands Low
Limiting the height of the followthrough will effectively reduce the height of your shots. The lower the hands, the lower the ballflight. Moving the ball back in your stance or choosing a stronger club and trying to swing easy are other ways to accomplish the same thing, but they're less reliable and more difficult to execute. Instead, keep your hands low in the finish (compare the two photos at right), and the trajectory of your shots will be lower.

To have a good angle the left leg passes the ball first, hands second, and clubhead last. This motion automatically moves the clubhead in the descending angle of approach. Having the clubhead passing the hands prior to impact creates an ascending angle of approach. Most of the time with this action the clubhead will hit the ground behind the ball (Chili dipping) or the swing bottoms out early and the ball is struck on the upswing, topping it.
